What are the events and why to play them?
Events, and more importantly the rewards from events, give you special currency (such as silver/gold tokens) or items that you can then use in PVP. So basically, by actively playing events you will also improve your PVP skills. More silver/gold tokens – more items bought from Master Blacksmith etc.

Do I need to reach a certain level to play events?
Yes, each event has a level requirements, you can see them here.
Event difficulty scaling (EDS). What is it and which events does it apply to?
EDS is a system where event castles (camps) mirror your account. Which basically means, you research new tools and start making them, Khan will start using those new tools on you as well.
EDS is currently implemented for the 4 largest events. Nomad Invasion, Samurai Invasion, War of the Realms and Bloodcrow Invasion.
So the first thing before you start sending attacks on the camps, you have to choose the difficulty. At the start, all players have the 4 lowest difficulties unlocked automatically. Other difficulties can be unlocked one time for rubies, or permanently by completing achievements. The highest difficulty (archmaster) cannot be unlocked permanently, it can only be unlocked one time for rubies.
What are the level brackets for events?
The Kingdom League has also level brackets. But not by what levels you compete against, but by what rewards you get from it. If you are level 70/1-70/599, you will get different rewards from it than level 70/600+.
